Life's Deck of Cards

Yay I got a letter from Duaine today. It really made my day because I have been wondering how he has been doing. He says that everything has been crazy for the last couple of days. On the 15th, he went to court, and the Judge sentenced him to 9 months for violating his parole. That means that he when he went to Louisiana, he was not supposed to go. But he went to try to make something better out of his life, because everywhere he turned there was constant violence and destruction. People that he knew were being killed left and right, and he decided to leave. But it was the wrong decision for him to make. But I'm happy to know that he did not kill anyone or do something drastic in violating his probation. The Judge also sentenced that he would be able to go home for a week to get his affairs in order, but when it came time for him to go home, his P.O would not release him. He is very upset about this. It seems like he is getting so much flak down there, but he is remaining positive. He is giving himself 14 months be out here in california, and I believe is going to do it. He needs that support, and he know that he has mine.

It is funny how people deal with what cards they are dealt with in life. If you are dealt some bad cards, some people may deal with them in a very negative way. They think negative about themselves, and lose faith in themselves, but Duaine has not done that. True, he has his days when he is depressed and sad, but he continues to push and hold on, and Im proud of him for that. I know that when his time in jail is done, he will never be in this situation again, because he does not want it. He is a fighter, and I know that he will survive this.
